black outlines or a slightly darker skin shade ?

What do you guys think looks better black outlines or a darker shade skin tone to the characters skin color? If it's a manga style drawing would black outlines be okay even if it's less realistic?

It's hard to say, I used to use Black outlines but I always was unhappy with it. I think that's because I would Outline to much but idk.

yeah I used to draw with thicker lines but now I'm going for a more realistic style and I use thin lines but even that feels to cartoony

It depends id you going dor a story that is dark use daeker shading if it's a light story use black line. Or use both. It depends on your choice. I am using both.
