Have you ever been rejected due to you being an otaku?

As a nerd/geek/otaku/anime fan have you tried to established an relationship with someone, but they rejected you due to your interests, and if so how did overcome the rejection?

I think I can safely say a couple of times I was rejected for being a geek at a minimum. I've told girls IRL I was a gamer, and in their minds they think of their past bfs who primarily played casually like Call of Duty or Madden. Then I brought them over and showed them my apt and my gaming room and then it kind of hit them I'm a bit more into then they realized.

Well, I never dated anyone in school because I was the quiet girl who went to class, did the work, wore the uniform and didn't care for the social order of students. I wasn't bullied, but I certainly didn't make many friends in my classes. I don't think any of the guys I liked would have dated me anyway though, because their friends wouldn't have approved. At university we were all geeks and weirdos though, so I could have dated a whole bunch if I'd wanted to.

Haven't been rejected for loving my anime, then again I only ask out girls who like anime in the first place. I've been rejected for other reasons though: wasn't looking for a relationship, didn't think I was attractive enough, I liked sports too much. Main thing is to not beat yourself up over it, you like what you like and find someone who will appreciate it or not reject you over it. If the person you like is shallow enough to not like you because you enjoy your anime, gaming, or whatever then they're probably not worth it.
