Let's Talk Islam

I know a lot of that is cultural practices. You have Muslims that choose to adapt to the modern age..and those who don't. The Islamic World still has a tribal mentality, numerous cliques and different interpretations on the Sunnah and the Hadith. It hasn't been that long since some of these countries/kingdoms have come out of the desert, not much has changed except now they have buildings instead of tents. They lived in a completely different world until recently. I strongly believe Saudi Arabia remains in it's current state due to the alliance The House of Saud maintains with Al ash-Sheikh, the leading religious family in the Kingdom. Their founder formed Wahhabism and they preach the same doctrine today. Al ash-Sheikh is most likely still around because House Saud knows that they wouldn't be where they are today if it wasn't for the Wahhabi's help. I'm sure their to powerful to just give them the boot at this point. Plus the people in some of these places can't speak out at all. I'm sure other nations have had similar origins. All that stuff listed is common practice in some parts of the globe. Like slavery still goes on in Mauritania. I agree with the reform to an extent..we just can't up and say it should "cease to exist". For some people their entire culture and history is built upon Islamic History, some peoples entire being and how they choose to live life..is based upon this religion. I'm sure many don't speak out for a number of reasons, we don't know how the majority in their household and communities view things. It could be fear simple as that, I've seen many people not want to speak up on something because they feel they'll be in danger. Same goes for Muslim communities here in the America, we've already had a few honor killings these past few years. So the ones that do want to speak out are prob like "OH shit! That could be me!". So for me I believe it's the "Tribe" mentality and culture that cause the most issues. Even if you took away Sharia, stoning's would most likely still occur, same with those marriages and mutilation. But how does one change cultural mentality? I've been asking myself that for a while lol(in regards to a different topic) Now I'm in no way trying to make any excuse for certain behaviors, because I don't agree with any of that shit. Just giving my 2 cents, this topic came up at the bar tonight..so I just used some of what we were talking about. Hope all I wrote made any kind of sense lol, I'll look tomorrow. So I'm just rambling and still drinking *Cheers boys!*
