Something About a God's Behavior Makes Me Question the Universe (Part 1)

jiro
Well shit. No. That's a terrible way to start off a story. Whatever. It's already written and I'm too lazy to come up with something poetic and meaningful. So, I guess then, the beginning of this story is going to be just as blunt as the rest of it. As long as we're going with that I should just throw the basic information out there then. My name is Saren. I'm not anything special. I'm 20 years old and I've been kidnapped by gods. That sounds a bit cringe-worthy if you think about it hard enough. Oh well. Like I said, I'm going to be blunt. So, yes I was kidnapped by gods. Is it really considered kidnapping if it's done by gods though? Like, if 11 of the most powerful and all-knowing immortals decide that they want to speak with you and they then decide that the best way to do so is to send a couple of these fuckin' white-haired blue people to grab you while you're sleeping and teleport you to the realm of said gods...I mean...can you really blame them? Especially considering that my tribe is atheistic, I can't imagine how they'd just present themselves to us and say, "We need to borrow one of your kin for a bit.", or that it'd be anything but, awkward if they tried. They may be immortal beings but, let's face it, the concept of subtlety exists in the universe for a reason. But, I digress. The point is that now I'm standing in front of gods, 11 as I mentioned earlier, on top of what I think would be best described as a chunk of land floating in the nighttime sky. At least I think it's in the sky. I got a quick look over the edge once I arrived but, I didn't see anything to indicate that there was a world below the land mass. There's a vein of what looks like red-orange water running from a spring filled with the same liquid all the way to the edge of the land mass where it drops off and sort of just evaporates as it falls. The colors of the plants are kind of trippy and the shapes are completely abstract. A tree not far from where I stand seems to defy gravity as everything is held up by a collection of thin roots that start close to the bottom of the trunk and run in lots of different directions. The bark is noticeably peeling in multiple places. Underneath the trunk is a small pool of the bluest liquid I have ever seen and the liquid reaches out in tendrils to coil around the roots. Honestly I have no idea what the relationship there is but, it's not important. Speaking of things that are really blue, one of the blue servants that brought me here, female it seems but, I've seen enough so far not to make any solid conclusions, is gripping my arm really tightly. Her face is pretty indifferent to the situation but, her hand is saying, "I'm ready to snap your bones 10 types of ways." Taking that into consideration, I just bear with it. Then there's the giants in the room, all sitting with their legs folded underneath them, knees pointed forward. Notice that I could've simply said, "The elephants in the room" but, each of these gods is easily twice that size. I guess my face gave off everything I was thinking because, the god sitting 2nd from the middle position on the right side addressed this fact. He was a male with middle aged features, a long white beard with stubble across his upper lip, his equally white dreadlock hair pulled back and tied, and human in appearance except for his scaly blue skin with a small bit of gold tint on each scale. He looks at me and states, "We are aware that the "giant gods" trope is somewhat of a cliché and though our true sizes vary quite a bit, you must understand that for the sake of formality and observing social practices we have all agreed to appear to you in this way. Rest assured, that in time, assuming you haven't gotten yourself killed, causes aside, we would be more than glad to reveal our true forms to you. "Fantastic", I think to myself. "A god with a sense of humor. Because, THAT takes away all the uneasiness out of this situation." (I'm just leaving this as is until I finish the story elsewhere and post the rest.)
