Voss I just don't see given how shameful the top have acted with things as they are giving them more influence on wages ending well. I'm familiar enough with the theory but it relies heavily on trickle down economics which I feel if its not fully debunked - its definitely arguable that it is. The top are doing very well but those under them are not feeling the prosperity at all - they keep it all up there. I read an article once that sums things up pretty well - the premise being currently if your income relies on profits / net incomes you're doing great but if you rely on wages (which is most of us) you're not doing well

My theory primarily stems from the idea that the top are motivated by profit. If the middle class isn't spending then the cash flow ceases. So not smart business will charge more than its consumers can afford. Just as well, new job creators can establish themselves with employees that are willing to work lower wages. And in time it breeds competition among employers as there are more jobs available for everyone. Win fucking win because people can be more confident when negotiating salaries. More jobs, more money, stronger middle class. I wont lie, it isn't the kind of thing that could be implemented right away. But those at the top are already looking for every opportunity to fuck others over for a quick dollar. They will do so regardless.

And yeah, if you are living paycheck to paycheck, you are in the red. My thought is that the market will correct itself. Even those motivated by profit need to accept that people need to be able to afford to spend money. Otherwise no one would.

Oh you definitely can't radically change it - at least without expecting a few rough as hell years and chaos. I'm not sure it will empower the dollar (what really needs to happen with or without heavy regulations) more than what it is now. Thing is the power of the dollar might be the same with no minimum wage, as it is with the current min wage, as it could be with the 15 minimum you hear proposed (15 sounds high to me - 11-12 more reasonable).
