I have seen that youtube videos can be embedded within a post. I tried to achieve this by just pasting the url, but there was only a link and no embedded video. how can this be achieved?

Can this only be done with youtube/web urls? Is it possible to upload videos straight from one's computer?

I don't believe that's possible. It's only youtube videos.
