I was sooooo tempted to make this thread too … but refrained for not giving spoilers : P But I’m glad you made it, since I also really loved Ep. 13-16 from S2. I agree that the transition in Ep.17 is a bit abrupt, but we have to remember that Ep. 16 closes all the narration of the novel「太宰治と黒の時代」. So think of it like turning open the pages of a new book… although I don't think it will be as touching as 「黒の時代」. I cried when I first read that light novel, and got even more wrecked when I watched the anime…perhaps because I found Dazai’s thought presented in it pretty relatable. Gotta say they made an amazing anime adaptation while keeping some of my favorite lines verbatim. Concerning the myth of why Dazai seems to never die…in the novel, he actually came up with a reason himself: he was targeting at death, but in this world, success is usually much harder than failure. So, he thought he should aim at 'failing at dying’ instead...Eureka! (It was just him messing with Odasaku in that bar at the beginning of the story)
