I used it for a little bit. I like how user friendly it is to create models, textures, and meshes compared to Blender.

I much prefer Blender over Maya, so much easier to select verticies on complex characters. I don't know if you still need help, with the head on a character model, but there is a guy who does a forty part character modeling guide, and creates Sinon from SAO. I believe his youtube name is Daniel Kreuter, anyways I hope this helps!

I think blender is a lot more simple lol. Opinions differ. Maya is the industrial standard in Germany though so as great as blender is I opt for maya more often than not. Then again media design is not what I'll pursue as a career so I just do it for fun. I'm no good as a sensei.

I think the same things can be accomplished in both. I have seen very complex characters done in both Maya, and Blender, it just depends on the artist. Blender also free, and open source. Which means it can potentially become better than Maya. I just like the interface of Blender, it just seems more logical the way all the interface is used. Why make a complicated thing more complicated.

This is his end result in Blender https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9exVMxrQ7A&index=41&list=PLvgIVNDU-Dxjb3eukDF5W0l0-6ShO9OiM

The idea he uses for the head still transfers over to Maya though.
