So I got attacked by a bigot 2 days ago

Wes, the first sentence I hear from this guy is whatchu doin on my house, BOY. I showed him basic respect by taking my headphones off to listen. I could've kept moving like he wasn't there but I didn't. I should've waited to be pushed a second time? Do you hear yourself? And, for the record he did push me after I took my headphones off while he was talking. I let it go cause I didn't move, he pushed and he stepped back. But that's beside the point. Fact : If you approach someone with aggression in your tone and posture, I have every right to legally defend myself if I feel threatened. So once he called me boy and got in my face I could've broke his face and have him pay for new clothes for getting his blood on my clothes. Hell, even if I'm the aggressor I still can. How do you think George Zimmerman got off? But besides that, that guy was a bully. Flat out, old, mean and surly, bigot bully that thought he could get some guy off "his house" and make a scene. He failed. And I'm not sorry. I seriously could've ended that mans life and you all would be hearing and seeing me on the news. I was trained since I was 9 that if I'm in a fight, fight for your life. Don't stop fighting until he stops moving. And that was re-enforced with martial arts. Looking at him while he was talking shit all I'm thinking is "why is he doing this? Is this a prank? Or maybe he's crazy. Why would you pick a fight with someone bigger than you? Does he have a weapon? Oh shit he may have a gun. Why else would he be in my face with this confidence? Should I run? That's pointless if he has a gun, you need to be up close to disable him" and etc... You have no clue how much I dread situations like that cause it could end with my life. And as we've seen lately, there's not much sympathy for men of color in this country right now. He last thing I want is to die. But I'm not gonna jump when you say so. Or grovel or beg. I'll die on my feet before I live on my knees.

you know i recommend staying away from that route u take to work for the next few days just in case that fuck tard wants more. just take a different route if not just watch yourself.. but its up to you dude

Sorry to hear that. Not that I'm in any position to say anything, but some people still have their hearts closed to people who aren't like them, especially this person. I completely understand how rage inducing random confrontations like that can be, trust me, but you definitely made the right choice by just walking away. You're the better person in this case, so good on you, my friend! At that point in time, I don't think that there was much you can do to avoid that confrontation, and, I know how unfair it sounds and I know how many times people have already told you this, but taking a new route would be a wiser choice. I also like your analyzing skills! When people are blinded by rage, they literally can't see the threat they might be in. It's smart and wise to think that that man might've been armed or otherwise had a hidden advantage.

As for the respect portion, I'm sure the person who confronted you is mistaking what respect means. I'm confident that the type of respect he demanded from you is not on the same level as the respect he would have given you. He demanded that you respected him as a superior and if you didn't, he wouldn't even respect you as a human, an equal. That's one of the worst things a person can do. It's one of the things that make me angry the most, when people confuse what type of respect they want and what kind of respect they're willing to give. It puts a nasty taste in your mouth, right?

I would have done the same thing i think if it happened to me as well. First you keep your calm and try to figure out what he's talking about. As soon as hands get placed anywhere on your body though then it becomes a different story. Dude definately deserved to get hip tossed, lateral dropped, whatever you did, etc.. There is still so much racism in this country and it's disgusting. Although i mainly see it more in older people than i do the younger generations. At least around my area, i'm not so sure about others
