Might just be me, but I always felt that these indirect blanket messages of positivity are meaningless and even a tad condescending.
People who use them might mean well but they have no idea what a person might be dealing with. I think if it was as simple as just saying "cheer up" then no one would have any of these problems in the first place.

I mean...I have clinical depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts and it helps me. I get what you're saying, some of it can be condescending but for the most part, it brings me out of my dark mental pit and back to reality. Little shit like this does help. I've got these signs all over my house. "You're not your depression." "Remember to go outside today." "It's not as bad as you think." Spending half an hour in the sunshine or a night out with friends or binge watching something incredibly sugary and positive like My Little Pony helps me more than the half a dozen antidepressants I've been prescribed. I feel less like walking into the ocean and not coming out when I see or experience something that makes reminds me life is worth living. So I'm going to keep on planting my flowers, maybe they'll help people, maybe not, but I'd rather put positivity out there than just sit around and be a nihilistic mopey little piss baby because that's never made my mental illness any better. I'm just doing what I can to keep myself alive.

Yeah, but people who's been through that and experienced that know first hand how difficult it is. Even if you don't, a simple jesture of kindness goes further than many people think.
I always look at this way, I know I have problems and I may have had it rough, but there is someone struggling right now whether I know them or not. If what I say and do can make a person's day a little brighter, even if it's telling them I hope you have a wonderful day, that to me can be far more powerful to someone in need.
