I've been thinking lately that if I'm going to have a relationship with a fellow otaku it'd have to be long distance. Why? Well, simply put I live in a small town where not many people are even into anime or manga. Oh, there are some but they're pretty much all young to mid teenagers and are too young for me.
Anyway, I'm here to ask for any advice on long distance relationships for when I find the right lady until I'm able to relocate to be with her. How do I go about it? How can I make it last if we can't meet and see each other often?

For a long distance relationship. It's best to study about your partner in a slow pace, but not too slow. Put some ground rules on what you can and can't do as well. Don't take the relationship to fast. It takes understanding or time to build trust with your partner, especially when you're in a long distance relationship. ^w^

Plus, find a way to communicate with them in the future like voice to voice contact. :D
Also, plan on at least visiting them someday. They can get lonely, if you don't ever see them. They can get really lonely and that's how most long distance relationship ends. >.<
I hope this was enough info to start with. ^w^

They can be a beautiful thing if both parties love each other. Ldr ends in either a break up our just closing the distance which in itself is an amazing thing.

I'm kinda skeptical about online relationships; not saying that they can't work, but they often don't work-out unless the two people really like each-other. The principles that an online relationship needs is: Trust, Determination, Loyalty and Respect in think; with a little Something to keep it fun. Honestly, Get to know each-other right away, Find-out the pro's and con's of that person and of yourself, then make the decision whether or not you are compatible. What i use to do to keep it fresh and keep us close is "talking" whenever i get the chance and try to organize things to do online such as Voice-Chatting(Always works because ladies love my voice kek) or Video chat and maybe i might find some online game for us to play. Usually when i chat with people; i talk about stuff that matters and try to get to know them; even if i have to explain myself to them(Don't go for the Small-talk; it's awkward).
Me personally, when i like someone or am interested someone; i don't screw or mess around with anyone else, if i do, i usually pick one and stick with them; "Chase two rabbits, both will get away; pick one and stick with it". I'm a pretty loyal person and really open about my life as-well as my beliefs, But if that person doesn't offer the same courtesy; i'm out. I'm kinda selfish and i don't share, I believe that when we are interested with each-other; both of us should be as respectful and loyal to each-other as possible. I look at flirting or proceeding with other people in a romantic relationship as disrespectful to the pillars of what 'our' relationship stands on. Regardless; if we both decide that we aren't right for each-other, then she can do whatever she wants; just don't do that with me.
Anyway, Take it fast when getting to know each-other, Pace it when you are engaging with each-other in terms of life in the long-term.

I made a long distance relationship work. She was a dear friend of mine when I finally worked my way out of the friend zone she moved away and I went to the military. When I got back she contacted me saying she was always faithful to me. Since I had money then I traveled to meet up with her several times. We almost got married. Then I hit a financial crisis she had a family crisis and our relationship suffered. Her life fell apart and I was too far away to protect her. She told me she was leaving me just to survive. I don't know want she did after that as she never messaged me back. I swore I would never make someone go through that again. So if I get in a long distance relationship again I'm moving to her as soon as possible.

Pouring gasoline on yourself and setting yourself on fire is a better option.
I've gave an entirely different opinion on this at a different interval, it's just how I feel tonight. ^_^ As such ignore the comment and carry on.

I have done a lot of long distance relationships. Taking things slow is the first step since you might not have actually met the person in real life. The biggest thing that you have to have while doin long distance is Trust. When you are in a relationship with someone far away you need to know is you must not have any doubt about each other. The fault most long distance relationship have is the doubt in their mind they will never meet because they are too far apart. Yes distance is an expensive thing. But if both people work hard to be together it will all work out. But be loyal and truthful to the other person. If you feel any doubt or seem to feel too far for that person, don't start it at all, or, end it as peacefully and soon as you can. It is better to end something that won't happen then for something bad to actually happen. Be serious about the long distance. It is, after all, just a number. If you feel you can't do it, then don't start. But if you do, I wish you luck. ^-^ And I hope everything works out awesome for you two. :3
