If some girls are shy or intimidated by asking a guy out, it tends to come across as disinterest in the process unfortunately, at least from my experience.

Lets get real deep here. just because people dont compliment you in real life, doesnt mean you are not attractive. Most of the time its because people have the respect to not cat call and such. And maybe the only time you'll ever hear a compliment that is said through attraction is if there has been a set interest. I mean I never get a compliment unless its my hair, and thats just because its curly.

I give people compliments..unless I like them...then I hide. xD And yes they are intimidated by me...I'm usually bigger than they are...my feminine muscles are too much. D;
