Volunteering or staffing for a convention: Good idea?

hirako_shinji
I might be volunteering or staffing for CampAnime if offered free admission and lodging, but I was wondering for larger scale cons (like Anime Boston, CtCon, AAC, etc.) if doing the same (and hopefully with the same benefits) would be worth it? I mean, I feel like nowadays I could possibly go without walking around, going to panels or photoshoots, and give up other events for the sake of helping for a good cause. If it's not worth it or I don't benefit from it in any way, guess I'll just wait until I come into some money again and maybe check out conventions outside my region.

Well you got to keep in mind that for volunteers its almost like a part time job. At least thats how Anime Expo works.

Well, if that's the case, then it's nothing compared to my actual part-time job where I still get full-time hours or end up staying late and accumulating more hours.

I've thought about volunteering at a con before but decided not to do it. If I spent too much time on that I'd miss many of the things I went to the con for in the first place. D:

Well thing is worth it sometimes, but in large scales con, you tend to be working more time and cant enjoy at the fullest, but its always your choice
