Doing your best in life

A dear friend of mine and I were talking a couple days ago. She's actually my best friend. She's the only one I talk to about anime outside this site. Anyways, she and I are kind of in the same boat considering our circumstances. We are young, just starting out in our lives. And the problems we face range from feeling trapped at home to not really knowing what we want to do with our lives. We talk fairly often about how hard it is. Hard to find what we're fighting for. We want the right people in our lives, we want to meet that someone who makes it all worthwhile..we want the best when it seems we're not going anywhere. We despair compairing our lives to others our age who are excelling at seemingly everything. But whenever we feel low, hopeless, we are there to reassure each other that there is hope. More to the point, we must do our very best in life. There's a quote I take to heart from an anime called kancolle. And I've told her about this a couple times. The quote comes from Nagato who asks some of the girls "have u exhausted all efforts?" and soon after they say yes she says something to the effect of "then you have nothing to feel bad about." She's conveying to the young girls the concept of doing your best and that as long as you do, you shouldn't feel too bad. We all have to work hard if we want something that requires us to do so. We may hurt and cry along the way but we have to believe that what we're working towards is absolutely worth the effort. Not to put myself on a high horse right now but to be an example I'll say this. I have messed up a LOT! Lol. I didn't think i was going to graduate high school but I did. I did after I commited a crime that affected my life for a long time. And to a small effect, still does to this day. (i was a theif) basically. And for years I had the worst time finding a job. I had to work in factories for a short time and it was the worst. Many times I wanted it all to end. But I wanted so much more out of life. Things got better as I kept working hard. And today I have a good job, I'm working towards getting my first car on my own because there's no one to help me. And it will be a victory to finally get it. It won't be handed to me like the one given to my sister who was always the star child. So coming to a close I just want to tell you all to find that something you are fighting for and if u have yet to find it, don't stress out about it too much. If you work hard, you will attain victory. Don't let past mistakes define you. You are the master of your destiny even though at times it may seem your fighting a one man or one woman war against everything and everyone. Exhaust all efforts! Don't pray for a savior, be your own. You will find it so rewarding and you can stand atop a mountain of victories.

Well Nagato is the best one to quote. KanColle is the shorten name. Kantai Collection is the actual name. :)
