That is to say, do you have any friends whom if they stopped calling you, texting you, or in general trying to contact/hang out with you that you'd just never talk to again? How many of the people you associate with would you be totally okay with just never saying a word to right now?
Go ahead and think it over. Hell, check your phone right now and tell me how many of those numbers I could delete and you'd never notice?

I have many friends like that, and that I haven't communicated in the past few years with. Though when we do meet, its as though no time has passed by at all. Thats just the kinda person I am. The passage of time doesn't really affect me all that much, and given that most of them have their own lives after leaving college, and I have my own life here, I'm not bothered by that. Friendship isn't possessive. I wish them the best, I'm glad to talk when they contact me, and I still love each and every one of them, and I still care whether or not their news is good or bad.

Pretty much all of them with one exception and I didn't have to check my phone to know this one.
It always seems like I'm the only one making an effort to communicate, An old Dog dies loyal I suppose.

I have a lot of "friends" like that on my phone. I try to keep in contact with everyone. I don't intentionally forget to talk to people, I simply forget. I lose track of keeping track of people lol

I have alot of friends and don't keep contact with most. But not a day goes by where I don't think of them. And once in awhile I will message them to see how they are doing and maybe hang out again. As adults who are married or have children its hard to find time to hang out with friends. But as for me I have neither of those so I'm not that busy. xD But I love all my friends. <3 Even those I don't talk to much.

Practically all of them. It would be a bit lame to never see some of them again at best, but I pretty much expect it to happen with everyone I know sooner or latter anyway.

Don't have many friends to begin with so we stay in touch. Most contacts on my phone are family, work or food.

Already ran into this. I only had about 5 friends growing up, and ever since I moved houses, 4 of them just stopped contacting me entirely and moved on with their lives. The 5th one used to stay in touch... until about 3 years ago, when he got a girlfriend and moved out of his parents' home into an apartment. Ever since that happened, I've only been able to talk to him for about 5 minutes every year. Most of the time I try calling him, all I get is a busy signal or voicemail, and he never calls me back anymore, even when I leave a message. And it's sad, because I remember back in 2006-2007 when we used to spend hours on the phone together, playing Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (this was before we had Skype or an internet connection fast enough for a webcam).
I agree with Sherflow's comment though. It feels like I'm always the one making the effort to stay in touch with people, because no one cares enough to just pick up the phone every once in a while and call me. It's kind of disheartening. I don't know if it's just the times changing, or everyone glued to their smartphones texting, or all the people taking up an overly-hectic New York-minute type of lifestyle, but it's very frustrating.
In a way, this is why I prefer anime over real life, because at least in anime, the word friendship actually means something. Friends stay in constant contact with each other, they stand up for each other, and sometimes they even put their lives on the line to protect each other. Unlike in this world where the word "friend" more resembles that of an acquaintance, than anything else.

I have about 250ish contacts saved on my phone since I used to switch around groups I hung out with a lot. Now I spend most weekends at home or on the internet anyway (might change in April though). I think there are only 10 contacts I would really like to keep. Including my mother, father, brother, aunt, stepfather and my two closest friends... and a couple guy friends if I ever need someone to help me carry heavy shit or need a lift, lmao. So genuine and not selfish.
