I honestly don't think the cover picture option is that much of a plus - unless I'm doing it wrong. The image is stretched/skewed and half of it gets hidden by your profile picture anyway.

Anyway, if you want to do it then look at the picture you want to use, and at the bottom there'll be an option that says 'make profile cover'. That's it.
