@neet-one: The idea is to make enough of a huff that YouTube changes their DMCA copyright system to something that punishes false DMCA reports. As it is now, original content creators suffer all penalties for false strikes. They immediately lose AdSense money and have the video taken down, then they must fight for 30+ days to get the false strike dropped. While every day is a loss of income. People submitting the DMCA claims currently have absolutely 0 penalties for submissions of a false DMCA claim. So there is nothing to deter these people from repeating the same false claims. @Cero: That's the beauty of this, WE'RE the money. The viewers are the money for YouTube. Companies pay YouTube to have their ads placed between videos. Stabbing the wallet is a damn good strategy.

Try being more descriptive and constructive in your posts Doomey5 and people will take you more seriously. Proper grammar, capitalization and fleshing out of your opinion will go a long way.

Im not good at describing this movement and also the reason my grammer is not great is because i type fast and i'm too lazy to fix them. That and if i did my opinion you would see lots of text that you would probably skip over anyway. Thats why i keep it short but if you want to know more watch a video on #wtfu its a real problem and i i'm not good at describing it though text im more used to voiceing it more.

@Doomey5: Don't worry, I threw a little explanation out there for you. Everyone else, this is an issue because there are several content creators who have made it their full time job. Let me reiterate. A single strike is an IMMEDIATE stop to income, it can take well over a month to get a false strike removed. This is where the biggest problem comes into play... It only takes 3 strikes to have a channel outright shut down, there have been several content creators that have been combating false strikes only to eventually find out their account has been shut down. Why? Because two more false claims came in while combating the first. You had your income taken away (not put in escrow, you outright lose it) because someone lied. You aren't allowed to contest that before losing a big chunk of income. The "Where's the Fair Use?" movement is about restructuring YouTube's DMCA policies. Alter it to punish those who abuse the DMCA system rather than innocent and legal content creators. As it is now, companies have been known to issued take downs because the YouTuber gave their movie or game a bad review. And guess what? The reviewer is punished. Did you know there's even a feature in their DMCA system that allows someone else to take money from a content creator's ad revenue? As an example, "Oh, you're reviewing our game? Okay, any money you make off ads is ours."

As someone who makes youtube videos, yeah, it's pretty distressing to see what's happening to some of the more prevalent youtubers out there who rely on it for their living right now. My channel isn't very big, but I agree with most of the sentiment google is basically playing to the corporate lackeys when they allow abuses of the DMCA policy like this.
