Best/worst video game animes

There are several video game-based animes that were often aired on channels like Fox Kids, Kids WB, Fox Box/4KidsTV, CW4Kids/Toonzai/Vortex, and bigger channels like Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. Some were mostly found on home video only. And some were about people interacting with video games. Some even had their own commercials in anime form. Perhaps many examples can be seen in this archived website that shows screenshots and information in Japanese only. Valkyria Chronicles is one of my all-time favorites. The Anime itself had me in awe with the level of detail from the individual characters to the story-line. Even the Opening music had me hooked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JD_b0TiSVgk The game which is a turn-based strategy game has been rated quite highly by various reviewers, including myself. I would suggest watching it if you want to be glued to your screen from start to finish with the occasional tear-drop running down your face.

I liked Persona 4: The Animation and didn't like the Sonic X anime at all besides Season 2 which even then was just adapting stories from some of the games. Everything original in X was either Meh-Shit.

Some of the first several episodes of the Japanese version of Sonic X made the 4Kids version look like a great failure. In the mid-90s, perhaps the best video game anime Virtua Fighter initially aired in Japan, which is over 20 years old today: https://youtu.be/J7fZiQGmAS4
