^ like Cecil said, it would be cool to have one but wouldnt go out of my way, if i were you, just to get one.
And like the other guy said,if you did stumble upon your japanese girl perhaps, be careful because they may take advantage of your interest.
In short, yeah go ahead if you wanna claim your goal. You can even move to japan to make it easier on your side perhaps. But be careful. ///We all need to be careful. Lol.

Hmm I don't really agree with seeking out strictly Japanese women. I've seen to many friends pass up amazing women who have their shit together..for a girl of a certain race, weight or skin color. Shit I love women period.
I've met a few Japanese women in a few of my Mortuary classes and in my experience they don't give two shits about anime or any of the other stuff some people fantasize over, but that's just what I've seen. The same goes for my Korean Neighbors. Now I enjoy anime and all but it's given some a false sense of reality.
I'll never forget in High School..we had an exchange student from Japan and then...the anime club came at her like a pack of wild dogs(just about any Asian was swarmed), it was embarrassing and she left a month later.
I don't judge but if your serious..then get yourself together first, get that paper and make a move. GL

Well, first of all, I think the paper work is the least of your worries. There's a lot of subtle communication issues between international couples. Actually, I think Rachel and Jun put it better in this video.

Not just that, but their channel is an amazing resource in the first place concerning this sort of stuff, so get informed and start watching them.
Second, I want to reinforce what Shadower said. Just because you're attracted to the girls of distant lands, doesn't mean you should ignore the girl next door. Find a great girl who finds you to be a great guy. And if she is Japanese, great. Just as great is a western girl who can be your travel companion too Japan.
Third, more of a disclaimer incase point #2 came off the wrong way. Nothing wrong with having a preference for one race over another. You're preferences are your own. All I meant was... I like short girls. I'll still give tall girls a chance.
Fourth, I have never been to Japan yet, but I'd have to imagine if you are looking for an otaku native to Japan, don't hold up any unrealistic standards. A japanese female otaku may still be quite far from the anime heroine of your dreams. If anything, I think American otaku (Generally on the weeabu side of the spectrum, though I don't judge.) tend to be a lot more into roleplay. But that blind assumption is what it is.
Fifth: No matter what decision you make in life, you're only switching out one set of problems for another. Do try to be careful before making any decisions of this magnitude. I'm rooting for you if you go through with it though. Just stick it through to the end, and never stop striving for improvement no matter what unexpected challenges fly your way.
Lastly, Six, (Not really a tip, more of an unreasonable request) If you get a place in Japan before August, and its in either Kyoto or Osaka, mind if I pitch a tent on your front lawn for about a week? If no, then no worries. I'm keeping my travel options open, and have until April before I start finalizing my own travel plans. XD

After further research was gathered, here are what I found:
* Most typical Japanese women either often add sports, traveling or Disney stuff to their list of hobbies and interests. Sports can be fun especially if they were user-friendly enough. I like traveling, but I am too weak to travel on my own. And Disney? Ever since The Lion King (1994) struck the theaters and homes by storm and flooded many stores with novelty merchandise, while my mother refused to take me to see further Disney movies, my interest in Disney died. And ever since then, my then-next major interest (video games) replaced it.
* Perhaps quite a few find interest in me and fondly become friends with me. Most others just look and leave. And usually after becoming friends, our boredom of socializing with each other declines enough to leave each other.
* As for looks and race, those are usually a frosting on a cake, which is quite minor (or not very important), while having similar hobbies, interests and good heart are the main parts. Although otakus in the US are easier to find, that's not saying much, but I'll never quit here on MaiOtaku, even though most people just accept my friend request and miss out on me here.
There's probably more to come later.

Wow, jeez. This is sad.
Don't marry someone because they are Japanese. That's unfair to them and also to yourself.
If I'd happen to fall in love with a Japanese person I would be willing to take that nationality, however, only if´I can do double. I'd never give up my Russian passport. Otherwise, I would stick to residence permit, like I do in Germany rn.

I'm leaning more towards interests in otaku than ethnicity. As for staying location, I decided to stay in the US.
After more research, someone I know told me it's pretty much more affordable than million dollars, but still not easy to do. They also said to get the partner a tourism visa so she'll spend more time with you overseas.

Well tbh with you meisterman I have a huge crush on most Japanese women (probably not the right word to use but oh well) and to me their the most gorgeous women on the planet (no offence to the other women on this site :) ) but like you I prefer Japanese women and their are plenty of Japanese only dating sites out there for you to look at so you can find your ideal match plus you can always save up until you do move over there I would say start a long distance relationship and if you think it's going somewhere pop the question if she says yes you can use the money you've saved up to start shipping things over to her (remember to give her a little present with each parcel to make her feel special :) ) then you only need to worry about a one way ticket at least that's how I will do it :) http://a1.phobos.apple.com/us/r1000/016/Purple/fb/c5/a9/mzl.rtpndrls.480x480-75.jpg
