Someone is always dying somewhere. During the time it took just to read this post so far a few people have already died. Are you or anyone else here morning their passing? Of course not, because you've almost certainly never met them, never heard of them, you didn't even know they existed. It's not an issue of money, it's an issue of fame. Unless you've left your mark on this work, the world isn't going to give a shit about you when you're gone. You can be rich and not have anyone give a shit about you when you die. Hell I know a guy who's rich who has no friends but plenty who wish he was dead.
People morn celebrities because they know the person. Maybe not in person, but they grow up listing to their music, watching them on screen, reading their books and so on. They develop a connection with that person over their life, so it's only natural to be saddened by their dead.
You're not some special snowflake. Reality is no one gives a shit about you or me or the next few people to post here that isn't a friend or relative. You are only worth as much as you contribute. There's 7 billion people on this planet. If you want people to care about you, give them a reason to.

What Neet said is pretty much true, even if it sounds harsh

Of course Ivo is a special snowflake. Course no one will care unless he "leaks" a sextape with Donald trump. What matters and what people think matters are very, very separate things.

The point in this thread isn't on how much can a single person value but on how unfair some groups' misery are handled by social media and political figures due to them not being under certain flags.

That normally works itself out via violence and death. A raisin in the sun and all that.

People rarely morn celebrities. Sure they may feel sad for like an hour but then they simply move on with their lives. Unless of course they personally knew them. I believe what his is trying to state, is how media holds a celebrity death in such high esteem when there have been your average Joes giving their live for a complete stranger. There is one truth that you have to understand for media it is all about what can sell and boost ratings. That is all most media outlets seem to care about these days. If you don't believe that simply look at the ratings of new stations when they show something graphic like beheading or mass killings.

Thanks for the words, although I'm talking more about the media itself...

I don't know exactly what you're saying, but we also have our own Donald Trump and he's called Jair Bolsonaro.
maria and altair
You got my point. The media use the death of some people to manipulate the masses and earn money while simply ignore others who give their lifes as heroes just because they're poor (and hide what isn't convenient to them, like the police corruption; a cop shot and killed a innocent citizen and is running free until today like nothing happened...). Money is what matters, not lives. That's what I said.

I feel you dude. I love Brasil too I wish I could do something about it. I'd like to be a lawyer or a teacher and help children there idk. I know where you are coming from though it's sad. What you say is true but there's nothing we can do about the past just move forward. It's a lot like the way you say in other countries too
