Moderation Transparency

It's no surprise that with a niche community such as this, that trolls would inevitably be an occurrence, creating a need for moderators. The issue here on the site is that there is zero transparency with the actual moderation. As to why a user is ever banned none of us will ever know, because the site currently offers zero transparency in not providing a public ban list with the ratio decidendi for each ban. Moderators seemingly give no warnings nor any actual indication that the user has been banned until the action itself has been put into place, and again with no actual reasoning. This provides no chance for the user to explain their side of the story, or to clear up any misunderstandings in the event that the ban is not justified in its nature. Although site rules already exist, I believe that the addition of a ban list would allow for better understanding of what is and is not tolerated on the site. A log of moderator actions on MaiOtaku would also lead to greater accountability, as we can currently assume that moderators are able to act independently with no trace, allowing for potential abuse of power and general shadowbanning. EDIT: As per MainichiMaidCafe's contribution, some sort of tag/indicator that a user is a moderator would also be nice. Heck, Sephiroth could finally get a nice admin tag. Hopefully this will get some attention given this thread (http://maiotaku.com/mytopics/331/mytopics/25962?page=5), and I hope that whoever is reading this will take the suggestion into consideration. I approve - this is another thing we need for sure. I think Sephiroth having the word "ADMIN" next to or under his name would be a nice added bonus lol

Adminstration transparency is difficult since this is a one man show. Yes, for years people have said there need to be more moderators and more transparency, but you know what? Ryan (Sephiroth) does things his own way, and I appreciate his desire to do so. He doesn't trust others to enforce his rules the way he wants.

But not knowing who the mods are doesnt help because how will we know who to conplain to? I mean im pretty sure seph is tired of the constant messages from people saying to fix this and fix that its just him and he can only do so much with like a million people barking at him. Getting complaints about people harrassing others is just adding on to that if there are mods why cant we know who they are because yeah sure the people get deleted or whatever but thats after like a couple people said kill yourself and that your disgusting. Im just using anime tyrant as an example. Not sure if donnie spammed his page so he didnt see it but it could have been handled better

Honestly, this only again brings up the question of identity -- what does the moderation on this site consist of, and who goes about doing it? Given the events of yesterday night, no conclusions could really be made due to the fact that we as users have no idea whether it's a team of moderators who assist around the site to ease Sephiroth's workload, or whether or not this is, by the strictest definition, a one-man show. To @Elder_Reaper specifically, on what authority do you speak and how do you know that there aren't appointed moderators to help out on-site? Yes, we all definitely appreciate Sephiroth's efforts but it's not even clear on what grounds you're making your statement, ultimately adding NOTHING to the deliberation of this suggestion.

Ginseng, as far as I know its a one man show. I've yet to see anyone else step up and say they're moderators, and when I discuss things with Sephiroth it is usually him who carries it out. I would enjoy being a moderator, and no, I would not bully people who I don't like or who disagree with me. I'm what you call impartial. The only thing I wouldn't tolerate is harassment, and repeated disrespect towards me. You don't have to like me, but you do have to respect me. I've offered it a few times to Sephiroth but I've stopped asking. He knows whole controversial I'm a decent person.
