I need someone to critic this for me before I start outlining in pencil and then again later in my pen. I'm not completely copying the image because I wanted to make my own profile picture that kinda looks like me! XD Anyway....Here...

I'm gonna tell you right now--even if you're not completely copying the original art, you're tracing it and that is pretty much just as bad. You may think that you're just "referencing" the original art, but copying the majority of the art is just plain plagiarism.
Please know that all artwork have an inherent copyright. This isn't just frowned upon; many artists have gotten into legal trouble for tracing artwork like this.

Just an FYI i only draw from pictures I like on my phone, I cannot trace that from a tiny screen to a huge pad of paper and I only use it as something to start out with. I personalize the picture to fit me and my personality. Also It's not plagiarism if I'm using a fan art from an actual copy of a song or another picture. I basically made a fan art of a fan art. Another part, I'm not the only person that uses other pictures to draw, Disney and other famous artists have used pictures to draw their own masterpieces. Besides if I did trace over the picture my own drawing lines would have turned out better but I only used the picture as a reference. So it's not plagiarism. Also educate yourself and put on a pair of glasses before you accuse anyone else. Thanks :)

Huh. Good to know. Too bad that doesn't fly with most people on deviantART. Unless you give credit of course. XD No one really cares as much as long as some credit is given.
But that's just from what I've seen. So don't mind me.

It was a random google image search so i didn't know the artist but i thought i made it obvious i wasn't trying to make an exact copy because 1. I like the song so i kept panda hero on the arm instead of putting my screen name on there and 2. I made it look a lot like me and added my own touchs to the picture. I get mad when people call it plagiarism cause its not and thats not the criticism im looking for, im looking for stuff like "you should work on your shaddowing, it could be a lot better and make that black clump of an armpit look nicer" besides if i knew who the artist was i would have asked them if i could trace their picture to help me make my own version but since i didn't trace and i wasn't try to make it an offical art but just warm up and practice to better my skill i didn't think it was that necessary.

its not like she is claiming the drawing to be her own and is asking for money or anything. she simply took the same drawing and made changes to it. that isnt plagiarism, its like making a cover of someone's song but adding your own touch to it...yeah its the same song but its not an exact copy. besides the hair on the original doesnt match the one she made. everything in there isnt the same as the original.
