I was going to go on another college course but due to so many other things I sort out in my life, I decided to make this year a gap year of mine. To get my shit together, to sort out my life and figure out what I really want to do, where I want to go and how I get there. Because while education is nice and all, I feel it takes me away from so many important things I need to fix in my life especially since I can't multi-task well at all and when everything right now is just so very wrong, I feel taking a year off to get it all together is more important than another year of a course that I might regret taking.
I did a course in game development last time and while I succeeded, honestly I hated it. Because to me, game development or mod development for games is nothing more than a hobby to me, a very liberating and gratifying hobby at that. Having to do specific things on a strict deadline with the end goal of getting a job in an industry that's frankly gone to shit in the AAA part is incredibly frustrating and stressful and it just sucks the heart, soul and fun out of it for me.
So I think after that course, a gap year to focus on other things is probably the best thing to do for now. So yeah, I guess that's my situation.

I was at a technical school for game design. But I dropped out, seeing that the class sucked. They had us watch video tutorials on how to use 3DSMax rather than teach us, then at the end of the first semester, they said oops change in plans, 3DSMax is outdated, Maya is the way to go. I was like WTF? I dropped out near the end of the year, mind you the course is only one year. Not only that, but the class wasn't much like it said on their webpage. I even visited a year prior to know what I was getting myself into, but the instructor that gave me the tour, was no longer the instructor and a new guy came along when I signed up for the class. The old instructor showed me what they teach and it was what the webpage said, but seeing they switched instructors, that maybe the reason why my experience was nothing like the webpage said it was going to be.
Man that sucks. I want to be an indie dev is all, but all the other game design classes in the other schools are expensive as fuck. The one I went to was about $2000 in tuition. Sigh you get what you pay for.

I left college a couple years ago, so I haven't really done classes in a while. However, I just finished getting a personal training certificate, and now I'm just finishing up my Behavior Change and Food Nutrition specializations. So that takes up most of my free time. But I love it and can't wait to start training people!
