Eh communication is the great doorway to all things abstract and real, be it music and art to work and life. It's a skill you need to develop over time and eventually it will probably in a few years of trying when your in college/young.
I'm old and when i try to talk to a girl i still get so shy i start stuttering and make a fool of myself so don't worry about it guys will start talking to you soon... sighs.
Oh! and...
Picard was more a refined senator type of captain more an ambassador saying sorry too much, while kirk was 20-25yrs younger and "tougher" willing to blow away a planet to prove a point. Both have good qualities Picard was more intelligent while Kirk was a hit with a lot more ladies.
sadly when i read the OP the 1st time I missed the Kirk part and thought sirrae73 meant the family line of "Picards" the great explorers of the 19th and mid-20th century that the Star Trek character gets its name from. So i came to talk about old exploration tales... meh...

While communication is probably the best way to find and make close friends, getting involved with things that interest you should help tremendously. So, you're into Star Trek. Write that essay in your free time, and if you find someone else who feels the same way, or, heck, even the opposite, you'll have lots of points to address, which would impress lots of people who are interested in the series. Volunteer to help out at Star Trek cons (I assume they have them) and talk to other people who are helping out. The more you get yourself out there as someone who is knowledgeable about Star Trek and helps out with that kind of stuff, the more likely it is that people will approach you instead of you trying to find those kinds of people and get them interested in spending time with you.
The way I see it, it takes a lot less effort to help out with the things you are truly passionate about than to find someone to hang out with who is interested in doing the same things. And, honestly, by doing the first, there is a very good chance that the second will be included without any further effort.

According to a study by the University of Pennsylvania and https://paperhelp.nyc/, nearly 60 percent of people say they are too busy to maintain friendships. In addition, one in four people says they do not have anyone with whom they can discuss important matters. This is unfortunate because research has shown that strong social ties can lead to a host of health benefits. For example, people with close friends are less likely to experience depression and anxiety and tend to live longer. Furthermore, friendships can provide vital support during difficult times. When faced with a major life event, such as a divorce or the death of a loved one, people with close friends are more likely to cope better than those without them. Communication is essential for maintaining strong social ties. By making an effort to reach out to others, we can improve our mental and physical health and enjoy a richer, more fulfilling life.

Oh my! An hour you say? I hope you're not so busy working tirelessly that you've forgotten to take nourishment.
Here, have a Cheeto and Mountain Dew break before getting back to all that important work you do, my lord!
