Just to comment on the USA, it's the most overhyped country on the planet. I love (sarcastic) how they massively sugarcoat history for the kids. Illustrations of Thanksgiving dinner with the Indians after popping over on the Mayflower etc. We essentially invaded this country, slaughtered most of the local inhabitants and put the rest in concentration camps we euphemistically called "reservations". But that's ok, nowadays we make sure they are supplied with plenty of booze and drugs to drown their sorrow. We talk about freedom but we kidnapped tons of black people to come over and be our slaves for a couple centuries. But they are "free" now so instead we just pay illegal (mostly Mexican) immigrants way too little to do all the back breaking work and farm work that most Americans wouldn't do or would want way more money (and benefits, insurance, sick days etc) to do and we just complain about how their are no jobs because all the illegal Mexicans and such take them. Oh and don't get me started on religious zealotry or prisons and corruption, police brutality, the Democrat/Republican blame game (doesn't really fuckin matter who is president, same people run the show behind the scenes, military-industrial complex). America is not for the people by the people. It's for the rich by the rich. Greed is god here. It's not the best or worst country. But it is an egocentric, self-important, war mongering culture of violence where everything revolves around being king of the hill and having the most stuff. America has amazing potential, but too many people have their head up their ass. We think we have the right to police the world.

Its funny Bryan, you posted about the smart handgun, and put Metal Gear in the same post. What hypocrisy. Metal Gear is all about the implications of the SOP system, hope you know. That gun is a precursor to it. I respect soldiers who show me respect, and have a respect for life and will not kill noncombatants, even if that means court martialing or treason. A soldier with no respect for life, is just a sociopathic murderer. No different from Ted Bundy or Jeffrey Dahmer. The only difference? People exalt soldiers, and condemn serial killers.
