On the United States

Reaper What has happened to you sounds horrible. The bible thumpers first amendment rights should not infringe on yours. There are all types of Christians in the United States. I disagree with most of the far right traditionalist literalists that inhabit the Republican Party. However, I am Catholic myself, so you might hate me just for being Christian. I am also in the military. So double whammy of me being on your evil list of evil Americans. So I firmly believe that you don't have valid opinions and I don't respect your ideals. But I do respect that you are adamant about them and I will defend those beliefs and your right to have them and that no one discriminates against you for it, even if I disagree with them. You are all "me" "me" "me" "oh my problems!" But that's okay. Makes you fit in with the typical American. And I will defend your right to be that. Even if we disagree wholeheartedly on our core beliefs I bear no ill will to you and am honored to serve for your right to practice what you practice and believe what you believe. Unfortunately, many Christians have forgotten about what Jesus actually taught and use the religion to further their own power and agenda, especially to discriminate against others. It has especially been hurtful to the citizens of this country. But this is my home and it will always be. I am a first generation American and this country has provided me with opportunities that I could not have achieved back in Mexico. But I am not fighting for the government. Hell, I'm not even fighting. I am keeping the men who you believe are "mindlessly slaughtering people" healthy. I guess that makes me worse no? So even if you are tired of resisting, I will heal and fight for the people of this country so that we all may have our life, liberty, and happiness. It is an inalienable right for you to pursue you and your partners happiness, especially if the government is keeping you from it, so I think it is good that you are trying your best escape. It is admirable. I hope that you would take differing opinions more seriously, especially the warnings others on this thread have pointed out about moving to a new culture. Once you figure that out, I'm sure you'll make it. Good luck.

So leave ? I'm not trying to be rude or anything but if you hate it here so much make a four year thought out plan and leave the country ? I mean you really seem to not like it here but you're not really doing anything about it; not trying to leave, not trying to 'make it better' and not even trying to speak out against it in a way that people would actually know who you are (maybe?) Doing a rant on a very unpopular media site seems rather pointless like you are trying to vent more then actually make a serious point. Maybe you should make your own youtube video with information that you've gather with your opinions.

Sota, I've a plan, which stretches out from 3-5 years and I've also shared these thoughts elsewhere, in articles and the like for various sites. The difference is this is a unique handle and identity I created for myself, so nobody on here knows my real identity. Pocketto, I dislike Christianity, but not necessarily the Christians themselves. Similarly I do respect military members who show regard for the life they're taking and don't indiscriminately kill just to kill. I actually do respect you, since you've shown me respect, and for that I wouldn't mind shaking your hand if we were to meet. As for moving to a new culture, I already know the challenges that await. I'm already disassociated from my heritage because of familial rejection of my beliefs, so I have little to lose. My lover is already fine with most of the countries we've picked out, so I'm not worried in the least. She, like myself, has things she wishes to leave behind.

The point of the first amendment was to defend those who can’t defend themselves from persecution of the masses. It doesn’t matter who is right or wrong, all opinions should be respected in this country whether valid or not. Unfortunately, we have strayed from those ideals. Christians have forgotten what it is like to be persecuted. I would actually prefer it if you disliked Christians themselves instead of Christianity, since we have fallen far from what Jesus has taught us. We have become hypocrites. And I am sorry for that. I also hope you dislike the government and not the idea of America. I still feel the idea is what we should fight for. In the end, both the United States and Christianity are not what was invisioned, bastions of freedom and happiness. And you shouldn’t be tied down to that. Live out your beliefs as long as they infringe on no one else. The world was created so that we may enjoy the fruits of it. That counts for everyone. (Disclaimer: I do take evolution as fact)

I wouldn't say the amendments were meant defend people from the persecution of the masses, but rather from the persecution of government.

You are indeed correct, the amendments were made to protect against tyranny from the government. But are the masses not the ones with the voice that controls the government? It tries to defend against institutionalized persecution I think.

It's weird how some of you say that Reaper doesn't give a valid reason for hating America even though it is literally right in the paragraphs he typed.

He did give reasons. I just don't believe them to be completely valid. But he has the right to have those reasons for hating America. I understand and respect that. There are some truths on how some are treated wrongfully in the US, but I don't believe his reasoning qualifies as something that really deserves sympathy. Instead, he has my full support to do something about what he perceives as wrong as long as he is not hurting anyone else.
