A store isn't the best place to frequent, since it could make you look suspicious or like a loiterer... Then the workers are just kind of obligated to be friendly to you, when they may just be super stressed and irritated inside. Places made for hanging out would be like clubs or bars. A public park or mall would be ok too.

If you want to get intimate with someone, firstly, you can't expect it! Mmmm! I agree with Koh! Places like that are made to waste time! You can also go to a gym and when someone is exercising one of their muscles, give them tips on how to do it and other workouts aimed at that! Basically, be useful to them, not just some random bloke who saw them as a target, but more as a fleeting cloud that just so happened to be passing by and wants to help you!

@Koha: most Barnes and nobles have a starbucks, and most have their laptops working on stuff. It would be legit if he did it there. ;)

@joshia - Good suggestion. I used to LARP Vampire the Masquerade and be an assistant storyteller. It is a great way to practice socializing even if it's RP, it removes some of the pressure if you are nervous around others or approaching strangers. People are expected to interact and approach each other. The after dinners are also fun and a great way to meet interesting people out of character. If you are brave volunteer to help out and assist in the games and you will become very well known lol.
