WOW i'm surprise no one mentioned anything from Hayao Miyazaki or Studio Ghibl like Kiki's Delivery Service. Porco Rosso Spirited Away Howl's Moving Castle Laputa: Castle in the Sky My Neighbor Totoro Secret World of Arrietty The Wind Rises granted they'er all movies but they'er great for kids and adults of all ages (besides Hayao Miyazaki is by far one of my favorite directors and studio Ghibl makes some pretty fantastic anime) hope this helps

I wouldn't recommend Madoka if she's sensitive to tragedies/death/psychological stuff. If she's already desensitized and likes horror/survival genre or something, maybe she'd be okay with it. Most "Shoujo" genre anime tends to be aimed at girls her age, and I know I enjoyed them until teen-hood. Just be careful, because a lot of anime these days LOOKS like cutesy shoujo style, but can be ecchi or hentai!... So be careful and make sure you properly check each anime. Not only do you want to be sure it's not sexual, but because she's still young, it's also a good idea to find anime that would be a good "role model"... so I would avoid fanservice/seinen anime in general. Shounen anime can be okay if she is into that. Particularly, I think Magi is really good for girls because it has strong female characters she could look up to, and it's overall entertaining and funny. I can also recommend anime that are good for making you think. Something like Detective Conan(even though it has murders) is really good if she likes mystery. Kino's Journey I highly recommend because the main character is a girl who isn't stereotypically girly and also a very independant and open-minded traveler. Mushishi is also really good. As for comedy anime, if she just wants to laugh, I recommend: Daily Lives of Highschool Boys, Nichijou, Gintama, Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu Love(this has fanservice but it's of men, so she won't feel self-conscious), and Jungle wa Itsumi Hale nochu Guu(the mom might be a bit fanservicey though, and she's alcoholic). If all else fails, she could watch stuff most of the adult girls did when they were her age. Sailor Moon being the main one. XD Similar to Sailor Moon, there is Magical Doremi(English Dub, super cute magical witch girls), Mew Mew Power(English Dub, magical girls with animal personas), Lady Jewelpet(newer magical girl anime), Precure series(There's so many). I'm not sure about the new one called "Show by Rock", because it LOOKS like something made for young girls and is by Sanrio, but I read that it is actually aimed at older men... so I don't think I can recommend it unless you see it yourself and can judge if it's loli fanservice for men, or appropriate for little girls. If it comes off as lolicon, I wouldn't recommend it because you don't want her to start acting like a lolicon in real life, and attract real life pedos. Oh, and Hamtaro is really good, made for kids, and I enjoyed it as a teen. Popular with girls because of how adorable they were. PS: If she uses the internet to socialize, I don't know if it would concern you, but maybe good to avoid the "little girls anime that attracts older men", as they might troll her or make her feel uncomfortable by exposing her to the NSFW/Rule 34 or Rule 39 stuff... My Little Pony and Precure are what come to my mind. I'm just being paranoid.
