Lolita Fashion

I think it was mostly for the rich in Victorian Era, though. I imagine most people would wear more down to earth things like coats and blouses, which I think are still really cute. XD Guys had really beautiful clothes back then too though, even the peasant clothes I find look really good as long as it's not tattered rags. I really like how the Dickens Fair they have here lets people dress like that, and sometimes you see gothic lolita too, I once saw someone dressed as Ciel from Kuroshitsuji too. xD I'd hate to wear a corset though. I already have experience binding the chest, and I bet tight-lacing corsets were worse especially when you eat. Alice in Wonderland is really popular among Japanese lolitas too, so it makes sense. Names like "Alice" are probably the most common for lolita characters there too.

@fenris I think it's reasonable to see a lot of lolita fashion stemming from Alice in Wonderland. I think the brand Baby the Stars Shine Bright releases an ALice themed print every year? They're releasing one this year. Old school lolita (like early 2000s) commonly used the Alice theme like a simple sax blue dress with white lace. I noticed that old school lolita is coming back, though! I run an active lolita blog on Tumblr and I've been noticing it a lot ^-^ I guess the corset warning goes out to classic and gothic lolitas? I'm a sweet lolita, so I don't wear corsets (plus I'm not really into the Victorian era as much because of it). I think there's a fashion called Neo-Victorian which is basically a revival of Victorian fashion.

Okay late post I swear ^^", but does anyone run lolita/J-fashion blogs on Tumblr? I follow a lot of people on Tumblr, so odds are I'm already following you. I'm pinkymaggie by the way :3

I think steampunk also uses corsets and some lolita-style to it sometimes(mostly from being victorian)... but I don't know, is it considered part of Lolita? Or something else entirely?

I noticed some dresses also have a somewhat of a corset look without actually being a corset, or at least not a hard/tight one. I think I wouldn't mind wearing one like that. XD
