I think the expression is "If I had a quarter for every girl..." then something expressing how poor you are. The way you put it almost sounds like you want someone to pay you a quarter for all the girls who (haven't) wanted to date you. Being on square one means being at the start of things (like on a boardgame). Still being on square one means you've never progressed or moved forward, which doesn't fit with the money analogy.

"If we do not control our desires, we will be controlled by them, and misusing our desires until we know only hate." <Another popped into my head. Read those quotes and you'll get a better sense of things.(I hope, that is...) The best love we can give is controlling our own love, because even kindness can hurt others.
