I thought about it for some time now. Reason why is hard to meet that someone must be because I have no clue where to meet them. I don't believe too much in web sites as far as meeting someone and actually spending time with then. So how about this what are places Otaku love to hang out at? List your choices so we can all get a clue.

I too would like to be enlightened on this since there's no places I know of around my area where you can meet and hang out with other Otaku.

I know a lot of otaku peeps tend to hang at malls sometimes; though they usually organize meetups on convention forums. However, I have met other otaku just by wearing anime related clothing while out shopping at the mall. Sometimes a person will recognize the series or whatever on my tshirt and just start talking about it, which is always cool. It's not an everyday thing, but then I don't wear anime related clothing everyday either lol. But yeah, just an observation. ^_^

That is what i am getting at. I think to meet Otaku we must make our selves visible and figure out the places in our area we want to meet. Cons are costly and few most of the time. If we establish places to hang out we won't be so bored and separated.

For me, the closest thing in my wardrobe that is anime are my Azumanga Daioh lapel pins. I remember somebody saw my Chiyo-chan Father pin and thought he was a pokemon! That aside, I would like to find a place to hook up with other otaku. If you know of anything in New York City, shoot me an Email!

A couple of suggestion:
Be subtle about the whole deal. Try to hang around places like Arcades, comic-book stores, etc.
Never, ever wear a flashy-colored "anime-themed" t-shirt. Use something with a simplier design. A small button or lapel pin, sometimes is more than enough
Do not force situations in which you can approach people. Be natural; not too shy but not too overconfident. Most people (at least in my country) are more than happy to exchange a couple of words with strangers. Then again, avoid (at least for a first encounter) to mention anything about anime/manga, etc. Let things flow at it's own pace.
Eventually, you'll get to meet different kinds of people and then is up to you if you want to keep in touch with them.
