Bakersfield, CA

Well there's not that many choices for cheap rent in Cali. All the little tiny towns are cheap but out there, not much to do and not many jobs. Bakersfield seems to be the biggest town that is still overall cheap. Other choices in southern Cali are Barstow and places in the Palm Springs area, mostly Indio and twentynine palms. Border towns too but don't look appealing. Maybe a few random places around San Diego and L.A. but I assume the cheaper places there are going to have high gang violence. I'm not paranoid about smaller crimes, I just don't want to worry about getting mugged or shot just because I'm white. The other option is to go further north, like Sacramento.

Crimes not too bad here I find it pretty safe, you won't really see any gang members unless your looking for them, but finding a good job might be difficult
