Maybe it's just me, but is anyone else a little weird about our email addresses being publically shown in our info with no option to privatise them? At least, if there is an option I couldn't figure it out.

Yeah there should be an option to hide it really, I just changed my primary address to my actual secondary address, so no one can see the other :)

It really bothered me the way emails are handled here. Worst part was not being able to change it even if you added a new one, but apparently the admin fixed that recently.
It's a really bad idea though to have your email be public like that. All it takes is a quick google search and you can find out all sorts of details about a person. On sites like this privacy should be more of a concern since it's very possible for people to turn into obsessive stalkers in places like this. I know it's 'technically' not public since you need to be on a person's friends list to see it, but since you need to be on a person's friends list to message them in the first place that kinda defeats the point. That's because I believe people are far far more likely to harass a person after talking to them a bit, than say some radon person not on their friends list. Secondly, people around here send out random friend requests all the time, many here have 100+ friends and it seems to be the way a lot of people break the ice and start discussions. chances are if you send someone a friend request they're gonna accept it without thinking twice, so that's not really any protection at all for most people.

I can't see any good reason for email addresses to be shown for anyone now that we have a more comprehensive chat system, so for the time being I have disabled them from showing up for everyone. Later there may be an option where you can choose to share it like with Facebook (with the default probably being something like "no one"), but for the foreseeable future there will just be none shown.
