Cosplaying as an Original Character

Is it a good idea to cosplay as your own original character or should it be avoided? Also if you do cosplay as your own OC, then what is a good way to let people know it's not how you normally dress and it is in fact a cosplay? ;A;

It depends on how imaginative and creative you get with it. I've seen all types of OC's. People who make up their own captain/officer in Bleach's 13 squad or Ninja clan from Naruto. Some was complete trash (the naruto one was trash) and some are amazing.

Oh I see. o: What if it's not an OC from any particular anime, like the drawing in my profile pic? I've been wanting to cosplay for a while now, but I've been wanting to cosplay as my own character. I know of course that nobody except for me (and a couple of friends) will know who it is but I've been kind of iffy on it because I feel like it'll just be a waste of time. x:

If it makes you happy, then do it! I see no problem with cosplaying as your OC. It doesn't matter if it turns out bad because you put effort into it! Go for it :) Judging by your profile picture, your OC looks very unique. It won't be that hard to tell that it's a cosplay and not everyday attire. It won't be a waste of time, as long as you enjoy making it and it turns out to your likings! Good luck!

I've cosplayed my own character before. It was cool and got some pics taken at a con. I would like to do it again. Hopefully improve my cosplay as well.

I think it's a great idea. I have some creative character designs from my stories I write. I'd love to cosplay two of the characters I have created.

I take pictures of people even if I don't know the character or the series they're from because I think they look great and stylish. It's actually a good idea to cosplay as a OC, very creative :3
