For years and years America has been falling behind other countries when it comes to health and safety. No, I'm not even talking about medicare, I'm talking about the actual food we eat.
Did you know american food imports are banned in some other countries because they think it is dangerous? Our countries people suffer from odd levels of food allergies, higher rates of cancer, and obesity, and why? We have higher levels of genetically modified foods in circulation here than in every other nation COMBINED. What's scarier big businesses here in the U.S. determined that we don't even have the right to know if we are eating GMOs. Take a look at our current president, Obama. Before he got first elected he vowed he would force GMO products to be labeled once he got into office:

Guess who changed his mind once they started handing him cash? Just last year, he signed an act protecting the very same company that creates GMOs!

This isn't about slamming Obama. In fact, I believe both candidates, whoever they may be, will ultimately be puppets on a string giving us the illusion that our choice matters. This is what annoys me so much! So next election, who will you chose? Puppet A or puppet B?
Remember guys, our government doesn't want you to know what you're eating. You will eat your gmos and you will like it because it makes them rich!
Why GMOs are bad:

I've known for decades that the president is a puppet of the military-industrial complex. Nothing new, they are put on a short leash. If you are too naughty they pull a JFK. (Though they are better at finding well behaved puppets these days)
GMOs are just the latest trendy issue to talk about. Pets have been genetically modified for centuries through selective breeding. Doing the same thing to foods is not automatically "bad" it's more of an issue of how it's used. If you interbreed dogs carelessly, the offspring can have serious health problems. Same thing with modification of foods, carelessness can have side-effects.
It's like a few years ago when everyone freaked out about cloning because of all the crappy sci-fi movies they've seen. I have no problem with cloning itself, will it be abused? Sure! All form of power gets abused by some. No reason to be afraid of technology. It's not the technology that's bad, it's how greedy corporations apply it.
There are many more important things to worry about than GMOs. Government scientists have already admitted to working with genetically modified bird flu viruses that have no cure and a high level of contagion and high mortality rate. Such a thing could easily be used by a corrupt government to cull the population to prevent rebellion.
The crappy fast food many people eat is probably worse than any GMOs, lol.

Major corporations want you to think everything is fine and dandy. Did you know Mcdonalds doesn't use GMOs in other countries because they forbid them, but back here at home they use them because it's simply cheaper? Major corporations don't have the interests of the people at heart, and major corporations are the ones who really pull the strings. To them the American public is like a large herd of sheep in a pen, give them nothing to worry about and they will eat anything that you feed them.
The reality of the situation is that corporations here are greatly misusing the process of altering foods. Mcdonalds, next year, is going to switch over to a potato that has been modified in a lab to turn off 4 gene sequences that cause browning, which means every single potato will not have any spots or inedible parts? The downside? We're eating something that can never be naturally bred.
Random blood samples taken from people who eat GMOs as part of their diet not only found pesticides coursing through their blood, but altered plant DNA that is swimming around shaking hands with your DNA. I don't know what is worse, having babies born swimming in blood that has pesticides in it, or having a person's DNA in constant danger of altering, which leads to cancer and ultimately death. There is a reason why every other country is banning this! The worst part is that the perpetrators of this machine all live here right at home. Our leaders, dare I say our true leaders, are the ones perpetuating these crimes against our health and safety!

food allergies and stuff like that can be attributed to the over use of antibacterial soap, hand sanitizer, etc. our bodies have nothing to fight because we're too damn clean. personally, i dont use hand sanitizer because as one on millions that have asthma, exzcema, and food allergies (have one theres a 75% chance you have all three) i'd hate to contribute to the cause. same goes for the over prescription of medicine in cases where it doesnt actually help the illness or side effects(im on chronic breathing meds and wouldnt dream of not taking them). but please actually vaccinate your kids. thats where i draw the line

So how can we live a life here in America that is 100% sure we aren't eating GMO's? Cause I'd like to know! If there is no way we can know for sure even if its labeled organic then I'm not even sure people who are aware can save them selves from eating food with GMO in it..It's either growing your own food or moving to another country..In order to avoid eating GMO..

About everything here is mass produced and processed. And they always cut unhealthy corners to do so. So Yeah, exactly what you said Cat.

@misskittehcat I agree. I can go on a huge rant on how American doctors are pushing pills like candy, but that is another subject entirely.
The sad thing is, even the organic farmers are having a hard time keeping their crops from being cross-contaminated by GMO crops. It's like massive-scale pollution, but on a genetic level. That's why this practice is banned in other countries. Messing with the DNA of stuff we are consuming is dangerous.

also, being organic is extremely difficult! i have a friend thats a dairy farmer and she says theyre nearly organic, but the exact specifics are so strict. you can never be too sure about cross contamination.

Don't make me regret coming to this great nation lol.
Now that you guys mention it, me and my dad (both Mexicans that have worked with food and drinks here and back there) usually have this discussion, we have noticed that people here have way too much standards when it comes to food hygiene, one easy example I see is gloves for cooking, I don't really see the point of it unless like everything in the work area is sterilized, my guess is that they just need to cater to this germophobic culture. But I don't want to deviate much from the original topic.
Back there the only food related problems you usually hear about (aside from obesity since mexico is fatter than the usa and gastrointestinal issues due to the nature of our cuisine) are pepto bismol fixable, sure there's also some uncommon cases of typhus here and there but nothing too alarming.
And about hormones and stuff, I don't know much but there were serious talks back there about the sudden burst of kids that "grow up too quickly" (like you see bodies of 18 year olds but they are like 12~14 all over the place and they're all sex crazed) blaming non organic food since well, mexico is pretty much USA phase beta, but I don't remember any proper investigations on the matter.
And about pills, I'm surprised on a daily basis about the huge amount of pills that the average american consumes, like wow srsly.
