Japanese Health and Beauty Products

There are a lot of things. Like... I do the masks twice a week usually the coenzyme q10 but sometimes the collagen or "bb" (The ones that are paper but kind of remind me of the halloween Michael Meyers guy.), after that I put a toner on, and then a daily moisturizer with coenzyme q10 and UV protection, during the day I do BB creme also with UV protection. Most of my skin products... I bought at Daiso lately... >_< Or the Korean market. The BB cream and moisturizer of course... not so cheap, gotta get it at the makeup counter. For you I'd probably look at one of the nicer BB cream that has the red reduction. I think Dr. Jart makes an excellent BB cream for blemish prone skin. It's called Detox. To wash your face... I actually prefer a non-Japanese thing. Instead of using a soap, I use St. Ives apricot scrub. If you are having a problem with acne, they carry a medicated form. (Japan doesn't really have these sort of acne medication with salicyclic acid is just not sold in Japan, at least not over-the-counter) Toner would also be good. I would think that... getting a toner with lower alcohol content and soothing would be good, cause drying out your skin could make your acne worse. My friend suggests sappari kind of toner, I still swear shittori is just the best for anyone. Definitely nyuueki type moisturizer after. It's like liquid, but it's a moisturizer and gets absorbed so quickly. :) I hope that helped. I've kind of had to make sure I knew what I was talking about instead of saying stuff like "the yellow bottle and you squeeze and stuff comes out!"

Oh thanks a bunch Jen! I'll pass by Daiso tomorrow! I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub w/ the salicylic acid too, it's only thing that controlled the breakouts & scars. My face is shiny & healthier now because of it. I think what happened was that my skin got sensitive to UV rays from all the exfoliating, then came the long commute to work in the morning sun which caused the redness...

Ah. I think Daiso actually has a whitening creme btw. Definitely use a daily moisturizer with UV protection. I love St. Ives! <3 Their apricot scrubs are amazing. I do believe certain face washes and exfoliants can make your skin more prone to burning, so it's possible that is why you got so much redness.

Any suggestions for hair removal? I've used veet for years and even plucked and shaved but I want something permanent. thinking of getting this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00DLJ7N2U?cache=6b73060d64f193aada992943f39fcb40&pi=SY200_QL40&qid=1403418217&sr=8-1#ref=mp_s_a_1_1 Sine I don't have thousands for professional laser/electrolysis.

To be honest, I love japanese razors... the ones made to groom facial hair... for all over... They're kind of dangerous because it's just a razor blade. If you want something more permanent have you considered the No!No! Hair removal system. It is cheaper than electrolysis but more expensive than a regular razor and supposedly has lasting results. I am thinking of eventually trying it out.

Jen, I had experience with No!No! It's basically a razor with an epilator. It cuts the longer hairs to the right length for the epilator's twizzers. All those things about crystallizing the hair is all gimmick, it's just UV light to produce heat. You are better off buying an Emjoi since it works & is more reasonably priced. I'm really against epilators in general since you will get ingrown hair. Shaving or using a depilatory is still my recommendation.

You're right. I'd much rather slather Veet all over... which I tend to do. That and straight razors... Thanks for letting me know about the No!No! It sounded kind of iffy for the price tag. I was going to add... In Japan, a lot of people go to aesthetic clinics to get everything done from hair removal to breast implants. Every kind of hair removal method is used of course, because Japanese girls hate having body hair. I myself am all about the straight razors and depilatory creams, I have tried about every single kind. Nair, Sally Hansen, Avon Skin So Soft, Veet... as far as depilatory creams Veet works the best for me. I use the one that has the huge tube of cream and then the soothing lotion. The only one I haven't gotten to try is the Bliss Fuzz Off. I really wish I could sample that one because it's kind of pricey. These are not Japanese, either. But, I don't see a lot of over-the-counter Japanese depilatory creams. I have seen plenty of devices though, like this spring thingie that you twist on your face and fold and it's supposed to be like threading.

I like to add Magic razorless shave to the list. Specially for people with thick coarse & curly hair. It's actually gentler on the skin than Nair, specially around the bikini lines based on my experience XD!

Never tried Magic. So I'd be interested to see how well it works on me. I'll have to give it a try.
