I just wanted to make a thread to see what kind of sounds really make you cringe. For me, here are a few sounds I hate. The cat making the throw-up noise. The crunching sound when you crush a bug. That popping noise when you plug a jack into an amp.

The sound of rubber rubbing against glass or plastic. Gives me goosebumps. Or worse, the sound of a fork scraping someone's teeth when they eat *shudder*

Scrubbing a carpet, no idea why but I hate it. That gurgling noise an almost clogged sink makes when the water drains out. When someone keeps sucking on a straw after the drink is mostly gone. Dogs whining really bad, makes me think they are being abused.

My number one pet peeve, chewing with your mouth open. The sound makes me want to tape your jaw shut and stitch your lips together.

@vampire_neko, to your last point, it also brings to mind children screaming like they're being abused when they're just playing around outside. I hate it because you either have to look outside every 5 mins to see what's going on or ignore it and hope there's not an actual problem. Had that issue in a couple of places I've lived.
