The "looking for a relationship" thread

I'm back to this site wanted to see if anything change but I think the best should separate men and women post here Jikoshy.

I'm Josh. And I've arrived at a strange crossroads. Until almost two years ago, I was in a horrible relationship. It lasted from age 25 to 37. Why I put up with it for so long is beyond me. I think I just gave up and learned to tolerate it, rather than dealing with the drama that kicking the significant other out of my house would bring. Luckily I was able to finally find the courage to put a stop to it. So here I sit now. Am I too old at this point to find anyone with similar interests who'll accept me? Or am I merely looking in the wrong places? To tell the truth, I don't even know where to look anymore, since I've been out of the loop for so long. It would be great to find a woman who's into anime, manga, comics, drawing, board games, cosplay, and video games. But finding someone my age who is into those things is like finding the proverbial needle in the haystack. In fact, its not something I'm really "allowed" to make common knowledge with people of my age group. They just don't seem to get it. And approaching women who do share my interests is often frowned upon, since I'm usually a fair bit older than them, so I try to avoid it. Though I seem to have great conversations with them. At any rate, I hope things will come around one of these days. Until then, I'll just keep enjoying my anime, while trying to enjoy my life. Good luck to you all.

I love reading, baking, roller skating, writing, watching Youtube, enjoying anime and manga and playing video games when I can. I am a rather shy person and dont really open up unless i really get to know the other person/people that I am talking/hanging with. I play quite a few different video games (see profile for more) and read/watch a lot of different kinds of anime/manga (again, profile) I am trying to get back into drawing to try to get my artistic and creative side to start up again so I can start to slowly progress more of my front end part of being a coder (making websites) while also trying to get my creative juices flowing to try my hand at writing again, even if it is just a short story or whatnot. I have been in my fair share of relationship but needless to say they were all met with certain "problems" that follow along the lines of the both of us being incompatible with one another. I have also had experience with online relationships before and with technology how it is I have no problem with them. So I've recently started college, therefore sometimes things can be pretty busy or hectic for me. Academics are a major part of my life and I will likely continue to be in school for a while. When I do have some time I like to watch anime (which I've been doing more of), read manga, work on cosplay, some video games and I have been getting back into practicing my drawing skills. I did have a part-time job which I quit to focus on my studies. I am not fully oblivious to not finding another job. I plan to acquire one in due time. I am overweight, I am excising and perfectly healthy though. Despite my general looks I like to be cute sometimes and other times I can be a bit dominant. There is very little of me that is really submissive unless I'm playing around. I'm pretty open-minded and have friends from every spectrum imaginable. In terms of making friends everyone is welcome. Relationship-wise I would prefer someone who is more serious about a relationship. It would be nice to find someone who doesn't focus on looks as I am a huge proponent of personality and connection. Distance as well does not play a factor for me as long as its in serious thought.
