Am I the only guy on this entire site that is....

Mainly looking for friends? ._. About 90% of the girls here are looking only for friends, while about 90% of the guys are looking for dates. Are there any other guys out there mainly looking for friends? What about the girls, why are you mainly looking for friends? My reason for looking for friends is well, I really don't have anymore RL friends who share likeminded interest that's why I'm here looking for some friends, although if a gal comes along great, that's more of a bonus than a mandatory want. Anyway how come the guys only want dates while the girls only want friends? Also are there guys looking for friends and girls looking for dates? Just curious really.

Yes there are its just relatively hard to sort out which is which I am looking for both due to me hardly having what you call a social network of people since im a bit of a study nut and a big introvert. I am always looking for friends first and then if somebody pops up I have interest in more then in a dating sense. I will give a opinion based view on the matter though. From what I can tell a good amount of the girls might be scared away by some of the guys more direct and to rushed attempts at trying to date them rather then get to know them. As for the guys well honestly it is basically this kind of line of thinking. I am a single otaku with a small niche interest that needs this site to increase my chances of getting somebody since this site has girls that are otakus and more nerdy. Regardless of what dating site it is a pattern is usually noticed with the male side it is usually looking for dates rather then making friends, not always but usually. Sorry if that is kind of simple just got a little busy.

I'm always looking for friends but hoping one of those friendships will turn into a relationship. Since I'm stuck in a tiny Oregon coastal town of 8,000 there isn't much but redneck country girls here and no luck on Okcupid or PlentyOfFish, most of which are pretty much traditional/conventional type girls anyway. I can hardly find any girls seriously into anime except here or at conventions.

^ Riiiiigggghhhhhhtttttt. @ Metal Ugh those kinds of guys really bug me, the kinds that gets all giddy like a schoolgirl the instant they find out there's a girl around that likes the same niched interests as them. Those kinds of guys give all of men on the net a really bad name. It's no wonder the girls on all social networking sites are looking mainly for friends or disguise their gender. I'm sure more girls would be more open if the guys would stop being pussy thirsty horndogs. @ Vamp I tried okcupid and the girls there NEVER respond to a message I sent them. POF I don't even bother. While I don't live in a small town the ppl in my town only care about bars,parties,drugs,drinking,clubs and sex. To make matters worse everytime I meet a fellow Floridian who's into my like minded interests(guy or girl) they always gimme the cold shoulder or just be plain difficult by getting me to do all the footwork in making things work. Sucks DX
