elevators, hmmm, they're mechanical, cold, sterile...usually cramped. Usually only new ones operate smoothly. jm90, your fear seems odd at first but I know many people who can't tolerate theme park rides and roller coasters. Maybe it's natural to not like being temporarily trapped in a metal box that moves up and down floors by means of a greased metal cable pulley/brake system

Sterile?! That might be the last word I use to describe a cramped space that (depending on where) hundreds to thousands of people enter and exit, pressing buttons with their dirty hands, coughing all over, just sickening!

true, some people use them as urinals too. I meant they're usually sterile in design, polished steel or veneer w/ fluorescent bulbs. Not much organic feel to them unless they're transparent like the glass walled ones you sometimes see in shopping malls

Arachnophobia. Sure it PROBABLY didn't have anything to do with my crazed father shoving tarantulas in my face as a child. O.o
Elevators are alright, it's ESCALATORS that are a true threat...Frigging scary!

I have a couple of phobias, but only some of them have names (at least from what I'm aware of.)
Autophobia - The fear of being alone physically and mentally. (For me, being alone causes hallucinations, very horrible ones too.)
Noctophobia - The fear of a pitch black room. (loss of vision. This also doesn't help my Autophobia.)
(no phobia name for it.) - Fear of ships. (actual boats not ships as in relationships. The last time I saw a cruise ship I passed out and woke up on my bed.)
(No name for this either.) - Fear of having long work erased. (Prevents me from playing super long RPG games and also makes me a paranoid saver for projects.)

Okay I don't know the name or if it has a proper name for it, But I Have a Phoiba of falling.
Its not a Height related fear but any time I slip, trip, or stubble, I get scared for my life and can't think straight for a min or two.

Dolls can make me pretty uncomfortable. Not just any kind though. Mostly just ventriloquist dummies, porcelain dolls, and the like. I'm not terrified of them, but I'll certainly have a hard time sleeping if there's one in the room
