Not too long ago I started watching more animes (I was basically only watching one or two things on Toonami). Before I was watching more than a couple of live action shows, mainly from both the big networks and Shotime, but now I find myself not really watching any at all. At first I thought I had developed an anime addiction of sorts, but once I thought about it I figured out the issue. I had grown to love shows that really only last 1 or 2 seasons. I have dropped so many shows just cause I lost interest in them after 3 seasons. I find more entertainment in shows that sets up its characters, gives me a main antagonist (or problem/issue/goal in some cases), builds up a good plot, reaches a climax, and concludes by 2 (maybe 3) seasons. The last time a live action show really kept me excited for numerous seasons was Dexter...but then I heard what the final season was like and was afraid of ruining the memories and stopped watching lol.
The reason why I wrote this is because I was wondering if anyone here had a similar experience, or maybe feels the same way, or just perhaps I'm just really weird and stingy lol.

I don't get into American shows because they take too long. Most anime starts and keeps going until it stops. I'd love to watch Supernatural once it ends, but I don't want to marathon the show only to catch up and then have to watch week after week and then deal with season finales, mid-season finales, etc.
SOME anime does that, e.g. Fate/Zero, Gundam 00, Code Geass, Nanoha... but I'll at least give them credit for each of those seasons going from start to finish, rather than 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off.

I'm in agreement on that. I like the anime format for its concise format.
What I see with some American television shows is they don't know how to end and they shift writers every so often, making it somewhat inconsistent. I do watch shows like The Walking Dead though only because the genre appeals to me.
@Death Wombat Have you ever watched an anime that was longer than 100 episodes because you got so into it?

I've only watched Bleach. It was kinda the thing that got me back into anime after my few years of somewhat blacklisting it (story for another time lol). I can't see myself picking up another shonen type show that is over that 100 episode mark though. I tried watching Naruto, numerous time, but I just couldn't get over Naruto as a character aggravating me. My friend, however, is trying to get me to watch Fairy Tail and I may give it a go sometime.

I don't care for most anime they show on American tv, also it's too kidified. I prefer the more mature series like Elfen Lied, Dance in the Vampire Bund, Sekirei, Shakugan no Shana and such and none of them go on for very long. I hate Naruto and Bleach, tried to watch both awhile back and thought they were horrid.

Completely agree with this! I realized that all of my favorites are max 3 seasons... Trigun, Toradora, Death Note, Elfen Lied, Welcome to the N.H.K (weird favorite I guess). I tried multiple times to get through Naruto but filtering through the fillers and then the horrid animation through the fight with pain just... So much no.

When a show goes on too long, it risks getting stale. IMO, Most shows should probably end by the 5 year mark.

Have you tried turning your TV off and on again?
Game of Thrones man.
Then there's Walking Dead for me. Last Season Walking Dead and Game of Thrones was a challenge because they were both on at the same time. Glad that they sorted it out this season with one ending one Sunday and the other starting the next week.
I just stopped watching TV mostly because I was running away from sitcoms like "Big Bang" and Tyler Perry and reality tv.
