You're not that old, dammit! D: Anyway, be personable. Be confident. I do find when talking to my lonely otaku dude friends, that they talk way too much and it's overwhelming. Try to have a conversation, but don't hijack it. For example, I love One Piece. Say this guy I'm chatting with loves One Piece, well what happens if I just talk and talk about One Piece, how I am such a fanatic, and omg the latest episode, latest chapter and on and on. It's like, you want to be happy, but it's overwhelming when it just seems like the other person won't let you have a word in. Let them talk. Ask questions and express interest in what they are telling you about themselves. Everyone appreciates it. Also, be okay if they are a little quiet, especially if they are a bit shy.
