Hello and welcome! For this site, try to be active in the forum and message or send friend requests to people you think are interesting. Join the conversation! There's also an unofficial chatroom which I tried earlier and I dunno, might be worth checking out. You can find a link to it in the Site Suggestions part of the forum.
