A question for all women on this site...

I always wondered about that. I seen it with guys too. I saw this post ( not on this site) about a dude who is looking for a girl pal to hangout with. It clearly states that he wants a stricly plantonic relationships and no friends with beneifits. ......yeah that's a little werid for me to understand.

@canteventalkaboutrealshithere It's true, it's not fair to legitimate nice guys. But it's one of those things where the bad ones spoil the bunch ya know? But it's also one of those things that makes people kinda have their guards up and maybe a little leery of meeting offline and everything. (I say people cause I've seen women do creepy stalker things too so it's not a behavior that's mutually exclusive with gender)

I think its because girls are trying to safe guard themselves. They are looking for friendship unless they are attracted to the person meaning it could be something else... at least thats what it has seemed to be to me. That or it says they are already taken, then that answers the question. I came onto this site without stating what I was looking for. I made friends AND I found my boyfriend :) Now I'm just looking for friends for obvious reasons.

For myself, you can't get into a relationship if you are not friends first. I came on the site to look for someone like myself, but it seems it might take awhile. Meanwhile, while I'm on this site, might as well make friends! Who knows, maybe my someone will show up.

I don't think it's necessarily wrong to look specifically for friends on here. Given the distance a lot of people deal with, online friends are about what someone can realistically expect on a site like this. For me, I guess I've never really understood the point of guys/girls who are already in committed relationships joining dating specific sites. Sites like this, while dating oriented, also have a very "facebook" feel to them. I'm more referring to sites like okcupid and pof.

Likewise. The factor that really separates this site from dating sites is that we all have similar interests right off the bat. The purpose of this site isn't so much for dating in my opinion. It may have been created for that reason, but it has become something else. But for those other dating sites,they lack that overall theme and it's male members (as I cannot speak for the female members) have romantic expectations. And I feel they are entitled to have those expectations. But now I'm feeling silly because I think I'm being redundant. If people feel they need to contribute further to this topic, by all mean please do, but I think we've gotten to the bottom of my question. I would like to thank everyone who participated in this thread. :]
