moving to japan

I know that most colleges have an anime club. Also, there are some colleges that offer Japanese as a minor. Being an anime artist myself, I'm planning on taking classes in graphic design/game design when I go to college. But anywho, Japan is such a beautiful place. I lived there for seven years as a kid and would absolutely kill to go back. Flying to Japan is an approximately 11 hour flight, so you'd definitely want to bring some form of entertainment, such as handheld games or books. Do alot of research before you leave, you're gonna want to know what are good places to stay at, cost of food/housing, etc. Also, a English-Japanese dictionary always comes in handy for those basic needs. And make sure you convert some dollars into yen, those will also come in handy. As for jobs, I can't really say much. If you're part of a military family and have a military ID, you can always stop by the nearest base and see what jobs they have available there; finding a work place where the employer speaks english will probably be easier than going out on the streets searching for a job. As Aysiel said, most colleges in America have an anime/manga club and Japanese minors you can take. Though if you are searching for a CLASS directed strictly to anime/manga, you probably wont find one, even in Japan. Most Japanese people tend to be more closeted about anime fandom than majority of American otaku, so it would probably be LESS likely to find one in Japan than in America/Canada. If you are looking to continue your study then I suggest graphic design, game design or maybe fine arts. Plus if you joined the college's anime club, you might find someone who will help you/tutor you with drawing in that specific style! ^^ As for going to Japan/jobs etc. I agree with everything that Aysiel says. Japanese guesthouses tend to range from 40,000 to 100,000 JPY (or so I've heard, I don't actually live in one), which you should keep in mind before getting a job. Just remember to do plenty of research before actually going, it's a big decision, so make sure it's what you really want and that you will be situated with what you need once you arrive. It would be expensive moving to Japan and living there. Their YEN is stronger than our American Dollar. Also I highly recommend you can read/speak Japanese fluently. Its kinda a handicap that you are moving to Japan to learn to do animation or manga while they already have alot of students there doing it already.
