Any scientists or brainiacs in the crowd?

shefoxy
I'm a Geologist by education and Astrophysics junkie. I love science, the Earth, and space talk like any other space or planetary nut would. Anyone else here crazy about science and learning? I'd love to meet and treat with people who are~^^

I have a BS in Biology/Chemistry and a MS in Geology/Paleontology.
shefoxy
:D I don't have a MS, but I do have 2 BS's in Geography and Geology. :) Nice to meet you Ridingcatbus. ^^ What was your Thesis about?

Have you seen the recent NASA satellite photograph of Saturn with the Earth in the background (after magnification)? I mostly a fan of medical science, but I also like some other sciences such as theoretical physics. However, I hate real physics.
shefoxy
I sure have~ It's fascinating to see how small of a speck we really are in the midst of space. :3 I don't think many people really enjoy physics. The ones that do are the physicists~ :P I didn't like it too much either in school, but it was easier for me than Biology was. XD

I didn't enjoy General Biology because it so generic and I like learning things more thoroughly. I also didn't like memorizing animal classifications and other things like that without feeling like I actually learned any Biology. I did like some of my upper level Bio courses. Even worse than Physics though was Organic Chemistry. And yet I enjoy Biochemistry and Medical Pharmacology.

I like genetics~ :3 I find it fascinating! And evolution is simply a result of genetics slowly changing over time. :) But yeah.. I've heard a great many horror stories about organic chem.. *shivers* Glad I never had to take it. :P Calculus was hard enough! T^T

I liked Genetics, but I didn't like my Genetics lab. In years previous to mine they did a fly-mating experiment, but in my class they used a "virtual" fly lab where you just gave the flies different features on a computer program which then gave you a list of offspring. And in our other experiments, the professor would just take our stuff away and do most of the experiment for us. Most of this stuff wasn't even dangerous like in Organic Chem lab.
shefoxy
Aw, man.. That sucks.. :/ It's a lab! You're SUPPOSED to do all the work yourself or you won't learn anything. Some teachers.. aren't very good at teaching. :P
