Seriously, the state of Fanfiction!?

karimoon
I love reading/attempting to write fanfiction. Recently I've been saving stuff to my computer from FF.NET and reading it in my free time. I haven't read much fanfiction before this summer, but I'm noticing a disturbing trend that's growing...in my eyes. Is it just me or are the fanfictions getting worse?! Or is it just the stuff on FF.NET? At least half of the ones I've read I had to place in a folder titled "Worst Fanfics EVER". The things that I'm reading go way beyond just 'beginner mistake' and have almost lead to shaken computer syndrome! English teachers throughout the country should be ashamed to have these people as students. Their writing is so awful, usage, grammer etc. wise, I spend more time revising the story than enjoying reading it. I'm not perfect with writing, but I'll be damned if I submit a work without checking it over a few times to make sure I don't globally embarass myself. Every damn person submitting fanfiction to that site can't have dyslexia either!

Well with FF.net and AFF. net it's pretty much a roll of the dice. Bad spelling, horrible gramar, and the writen quality vary Drasticly. But I find that my favorite fic are usually proof read by a second party, and it makes a big differance. I think most people when reading their own work autocorrect seeing what they meant to write instead of what actual writen, like myself.

Perhaps I'm just the person with bad luck. Every series I like, almost every story I've saved, it's tragic. Stories archived in the most famous places can not be placed side by side with the stuff I'm reading today.

I barely read anything on FF.net except what my friend writes.

Worse? Most fanfiction is fairly bad. Like, 90% of it.
