I suppose that's true. But if you have a Wii original, you can always play the original Symphonia for Gamecube. Or if you don't mind emulators, there's also THE original Tales of Phantasia for PS1 or SNES

I played a bit of Hearts R and it was pretty alright but I have yet to finish it yet. I think you'll find it easy to pick up after playing Abyss.

It's pretty much considered below average to the western fans at least. The Japanese fans apparently really like the protagonist for some reason. On the flip side, the original Symphonia is considered one of the best to the western fans, but I can't speak for eastern.
Yep, I thought it was going to be a Berseria port but hey it's something completely new, who knew.

It's still pretty early in the console's life cycle so maybe in the future. But hopefully it won't be like Symphonia 2.

Never tried any of the mobile phone games, but Abyss is definitely one of my all time favorite Tales games. So it's a great start.
