Then I'll probably end up picking up the AKG 414. I've been looking into it and it seems like a good choice even to record acoustic instruments as well.

The sad thing is I just got my license doing a simple computer test during my first pharmacy tech job. But the two jobs I've had have been more warehouse stuff than anything so I'm not really using my brain... lol.

For the certification? I actually just have the license for my state myself, I've been thinking of getting the cert just so I can open a few more doors to keep me busy while I exit the field haha.

I've definitely used audacity before to mess around and for a free DAW it was fine in getting super super basic stuff done.
I have messed with both pro tools and logic before and I enjoyed them both, however since I'm not running a mac I can't use logic.
The thing is I want to be able to both write out a mix of acoustic/electronic while also doing very rough demos for full band work I guess . I especially want to be able to do a lot with the vocals kind of like So Much Light's new EP but also that acoustic side.
Some examples I guess for what I am leaning towards using this set up for:

Yup I agree heh.
Dang, okay that would annoy me too, nothing transferred? I'm actually a pharmacy tech myself but am looking to get out of the field and go into drafting.

Well, I'm thinking demo wise and basic production wise of picking up Ableton Live 9.
I'm just wondering what would be a solid audio interface so I don't lose any sound in the recording of actual instruments. I guess same goes with any recommendations for condenser mics so that the vocals sound pretty crisp and clean.
I'm not really worried about money, I'm just trying to get a quality rig set up for demoing so my instruments don't sound too bad and the vocals also don't sound like crap. I also am slowly trying to get into the production side of music so I can go crazy with samples like Baths which is why I was thinking of Ableton as a solid DAW choice.
