I'm gonna pm you a few links that relate to law enforcement using cell phone records/GPS. Better than me trying to describe it.

And by phone records, I mean like cell phone/smart phone stuff.

I agree, a lot about technology has changed society. I find it crazy that in some areas they have (or are thinking) of pulling phone records and internet activity with the police. Also that someone could bring up whatever you do online in general. More people are getting caught through technological means for stuff such as cheating and crimes than ever before. It's also a cause of divorces, scandals, and other such things in that group. Mostly for dystopian society, I'm worried about not having a sense of identity or removal of choices. Technology in some cases is of concern, but other factors seem much scarier. I don't think we have a fully developed dystopian society yet in reality, though there are signs of it going that way.

I guess so. It kind of seems like a small possibility if circumstances change or worsen, even though I think people would fight to keep things free and such. Of course, I think for each of the newer generations growing up now are more technologically attached than the one before, so I wonder sometimes if it'd be more likely to have a dystopian society in the near or distant future based on that.

Dystopian societies to me are ones that are controlled in a way where everyone follows a jobpath or the majority blindly without question. A distorted utopian view that may include brainwashing or activities such as controlling the population and birthing methods, selecting people to be in certain roles (not really letting them have choices), and sometimes a class system where there can be inferiority to lower classes but the image of equality is projected. Similar to books like 1984, Fahrenheit 451, and Brave New World. Some other books I class with dystopian societies can slightly differ from my given description, though.
